Are you taking medication for gastritis on your own?

You are putting your life at risk.

A very common mistake is assuming that upper abdominal burning or nausea is always gastritis and taking medication from a pharmacy without medical advice.

However, upper abdominal burning is not always caused by gastritis.

It may also be due to:

  • Stomach cancer
  • Pancreatic disease
  • Even a heart attack

If the cause is a heart attack and you delay proper treatment by taking only gastritis medication, it can become life-threatening.

If the cause is stomach cancer, symptoms may include:

  • Vomiting blood or passing black stools
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Persistent vomiting
  • Anemia causing paleness and dizziness

If these symptoms occur, you must seek immediate medical care.

Otherwise, if you assume it is only gastritis and self-medicate, the cancer may progress to an advanced stage where treatment becomes difficult or impossible.
