Community

We are Sri Lankan, writing for Sri Lankans — with local context and cultural understanding.
How it started

A gap worth filling

When Hiran and Kaveesha were studying medicine, they noticed a recurring frustration — patients would come in with conditions that had progressed far beyond what early intervention could have addressed. Not because they didn't care about their health, but because reliable health information simply wasn't easy to find in Sri Lanka.

Most health content online was either too technical, too Western in its assumptions, or simply untrustworthy. There was no go-to resource that spoke plainly and accurately to the everyday Sri Lankan about their health.

MedTalks was their answer to that problem. Launched in 2023, the platform has since grown into a trusted destination for tens of thousands of readers across the country, covering topics from nutrition and mental health to chronic disease and preventive care.

What guides us

Our values

01

Evidence first

We never publish health claims that aren't backed by credible medical research. Accuracy is non-negotiable.

02

Plain language

Health literacy starts with clear communication. We write so that anyone — not just doctors — can understand and act.

03

Local context

Sri Lankan diets, lifestyles, and health risks are unique. Our content reflects that reality, not a Western template.

04

Free forever

Health information should never sit behind a paywall. Everything on MedTalks will always be free to access.
