Things You Should Know Before Having Sex – Especially in a Society Where Comprehensive Sexual Education Is Limited.

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can spread from one person to another through:

  • Vaginal sex
  • Anal sex
  • Oral sex

Common symptoms of sexually transmitted infections include:

  • Unusual discharge from the genital area
  • Pain or burning sensation while urinating
  • Itching around the genital area
  • Blisters, sores, or ulcers on or around the genitals

Using a condom during sexual intercourse can help protect you from many sexually transmitted infections.

If STIs are left untreated, they can be transmitted from you to your sexual partner(s).

Some sexually transmitted infections do not cause any symptoms at all.

The only way to know whether you have an STI is by getting tested.

Therefore, if you:

  • Have had unprotected sex without using a condom, or
  • Notice any of the symptoms mentioned above,

visit the nearest STI clinic or hospital as soon as possible for testing.

With timely diagnosis and appropriate treatment, many sexually transmitted infections can be completely cured, allowing you to maintain a healthy and fulfilling life.
